Volunteer

You can make a difference!

Work side by side with our clients and staff in the classroom, out in the community, or at special events. Your support helps people with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and other developmental disabilities live, learn, and enjoy our community.

We have many ways for you to help children and adults with I/DD. The Arc of San Antonio welcomes individual volunteers or groups of volunteers to enhance the quality of life for the individuals we serve. Volunteers can serve either individually or in a group.

Examples of volunteer opportunities include:

  • Teaching a class that’s both fun and educational (cooking, music, art, health and safety)
  • Come have fun playing board games! (Our group LOVES Bingo!)
  • Giving us a fresh look (paint a new classroom, amateur landscaping)
  • Spreading the word (throw a potluck fundraiser, help mailings, be a volunteer at our annual Arc Gala)

Getting to know our participants will enrich your life in a fun, interesting, and very unique way. We look forward to meeting you!  For more information on volunteering, contact Ann Morrow at amorrow@arc-sa.org or call (210) 490-4300 ext 104.

Individual or Group Volunteers who will be working directly with the participants of the programs during regular programming hours must do the following:

  • Complete a volunteer application
  • Complete a criminal background check to include a Criminal History, Employee Misconduct Registry and Nurse’s Aid Registry***
  • Tour of the facility, and a short review about the facility’s purpose.

***The Arc does not offer court-ordered community service hours.  We do not accept individuals who have been convicted of a sexual assault or misconduct.
